Photography for little people by Derek. Birmingham newborn baby photographer
When I’m not photographing beautiful newborn babies, I like to relax with a cup of good quality coffee in the garden. So, I am always happy to spend time honing my barista skills which I learnt on a course purchased by my wife for my 50th birthday.
As with all of us, lockdown has of course encouraged me to spend even more quality time with my family and they are always happy to try my coffee concoctions as well as the more traditional ones too. Sometimes, thanks to my wonderful wife, the coffee is complimented with a home baked cake!
However, repeatedly and consistently brewing the perfect coffee shot can be challenging and takes a lot more effort than throwing some granules in a cup. In that respect, it’s just like newborn photography - it takes mountains of patience, heaps of care and an immense amount of pride to yield the perfect result.
My latte art is coming along too, for this the milk has to be perfectly smooth with a dense foam. I’ve mastered the heart and tulip designs, but the Rosetta still remains elusive ;-) As with all things in life perseverance will, in the end, harvest results.
On a hot summer’s day during lockdown what could be better than the classic Italian Affogato? A scoop of delicious ice cream drowned in a strong espresso.
