Newborn Photography Procedure
How soon should I reserve a newborn session?
As soon as possible! It’s best to contact us to reserve your custom photography session during the second trimester of your pregnancy to ensure our availability around your due date. We typically book sessions 6-12 weeks in advance, and during busier seasons up to 20 weeks in advance.
How will we know what date to schedule for our newborn session?
Once you book your newborn session, we will reserve availability around the time of your due date. Babies come in their own time, so once your little bundle has made his/her grand arrival (whether early, late, or right on time) we will finalize the date and time of your session. The ideal time to photograph your baby is around 3-14 days new.
Where do the newborn sessions take place?
We are mobile and will bring the studio to you. Your photoshoot will take place in the comfort of your home.
However in Durham we are studio based.
Does the newborn session include images with mum, dad, and/or siblings?
A newborn session focuses on capturing all the beautiful little details of your new baby, as well as capturing the loving bond between parents and baby, and siblings and baby. The amount of family/sibling poses will vary depending on baby’s co-operation and the co-operation of older siblings. Having a new baby in the family can be a big change for an older sibling, and every child handles it differently.
How many images or setups will we get during an average session?
Every baby is different so the amount of photographs we take will depend on baby’s co-operation, and his/her need for soothing, feeding and changing. The session may last anywhere from 2-3 hours, allowing plenty of time for comforting and feeding. Styling of your shoot is very simple and a beautiful timeless setup, providing you with images that will never date.
What can I expect at my session?
You can expect a memorable experience filled with fun, creativity, and relaxation. You will feel comfortable knowing that your newborn is in the hands of a skilled professional who has worked with hundreds of newborns and that all images are captured with newborn safety techniques.
You will have a patient photographer who pays close attention to each and every tiny detail, and one who is extremely passionate about what he/she does. You will never feel rushed, and you may even make a friend, you’ll continue to stay in touch with long after your session!
What will I need for my newborn session, and what should I wear?
Everything you will need to know to prepare for your session, including ideas on what to wear and what to bring, will be sent to you as soon as you reserve your photography session with Photography for Little People.
Are props available or do I need my own?
We have a large collection of hats, headbands, accessories, blankets, and we are always purchasing new items to keep our images fresh, fun and innovative. If you have something you would like us to include in your session then we would be delighted to.
When will my images be available for viewing?
You will be able to view your images straight away. During that time, we can help you with your order and show you our most popular products.
Will I receive copies of the proofs?
Your proofs will be presented in a private, password protected online gallery. Printed proofs are not available.
When will I receive my order?
Once you have paid for your order, you can expect to receive your order within 4-6 weeks. Everything Photography for Little People produce is bespoke to you and your family. Some products may take longer for production, and delivery time may vary during busy seasons and holidays.
