More about me, Melanie Kemp

Melanie is most importantly a mother of two gorgeous Little People who are her life and inspiration. As well as being a mother she is also a creative lifestyle and portrait photographer who specialises in newborn and family reportage style photography.

She adores children and family life which she has been told shows in her photographs and in the way that she works. Photography has been a passion of Melanie’s for many years now. 100% love and effort is put into each  shoot that she photographs to produce beautiful pieces of art for her clients to keep and cherish forever.

Melanie adopts an informal, relaxed but professional approach in her work, ensuring that each photograph is spontaneous and natural, making sure that the final images are true to the family.

Melanie offers a free photoshoot in the comfort of your own home and loves working with new mums. Very often the new mums will have had their bumps photographed by Melanie and are eager to have shots of their gorgeous newborns as soon as they return home. It is not unusual for Melanie to shoot within the first few days. These images are so special and are a real wow.

Babies and toddlers are lots of fun to work with and twins and multiples are always extra fun. Melanie receives a lot of recommendations for her work and children of all ages and family groups update their work with her on a regular basis and invite her to attend christenings and weddings as well. If you are interested in booking Melanie for your wedding please contact her with the date.

Newborn sessions are relaxed and gentle. Sessions usually last 2 hours, including setting up, though occasionally can take longer. I will provide a range of props and blankets, though I am happy to incorporate your baby’s own personal items too. I work at your baby’s pace, enabling plenty of time for feeding, changing, soothing and cuddling. I may also pinch the odd cuddle!

I prefer to photograph newborns when they are less than two weeks old, ideally around three-ten days after birth. At this age, babies still tend to be ‘curled up’, sleepier and are easier to pose. I recommend booking before your baby is born in order to ensure a session is available for you, arrangements can then be made once your baby arrives.

For you peace of mind I am fully insured and CRB checked.

Besides being an outstanding photographer and creating beautiful images for the family, Melanie is also an expert at taking impressions of hands and feet. The Impressions are beautifully handcrafted by Melanie and can be taken of little ones as young as 12 hours old. The process is very quick and safe and every little line or crease of their precious hands and feet is captured forever.

What really makes the service Melanie offers truly unique is that she can combine her outstanding photographic images and casts to create a stunning piece of work for your home that will be treasured for a life time and handed down in the family.

The impressions/prints/casts combined create gorgeous gifts at very special times. Very often Melanie produces impressions for two or three children in the family in the same frame and a generation piece is very popular e.g. This is a cast of baby, mum grandma and great grandma, how special is that and how valuable to the family?

Melanie’s stunningly natural images and impressions are in great demand and her Facebook pages are full of delighted business clients.

Areas covered include Durham, Chester le Street, Newton Aycliffe, Consett, Stanley, Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Washington, Langley Park, Cornsay Colliery, Cornsay, Lanchester, Esh Village, Sacriston
